Steiner research casts doubt over NAPLAN writing testing
Steiner Education Australia has used a ground-breaking pilot literacy program to boost creative writing skills among Year 9 students, leading to calls for NAPLAN testing’s ability to improve student writing outcomes to be put under urgent review.
Against the backdrop of national declining NAPLAN writing outcomes, SEA funded a research project conducted by the University of the Sunshine Coast involving 54 Year 9 Steiner students using craft-based exercises which allowed young writers to “perform” the act of writing.
