We are delighted to introduce the program for the Steiner Education Australia 2021 National Teachers’ Conference, to be held at Samford Valley Steiner School, QLD from 5-8 July, 2021.
The 2021 SEA National Teachers’ conference will explore Being Responsive to our Times, through the themes of
Community – creating space for community building where people can support each other, share and build connection that sustain individuals, schools and wider communities.
Education for health – exploring through research and pedagogical insights the aspects of Steiner education (meaningful content, purpose in learning, play, nature creative engagement, the arts and movement) that are actively associated with good health outcomes.
Freedom through independent thinking – bring an understanding of how each stage of schooling builds an independent, living thinking in young people
Trauma-informed education practices – supporting the education, and wellbeing of all students within a culture of inclusivity
The Essence of Steiner Education –what the essential learning experiences are and which content is most important
Indigenous wisdom and care – build deeper understanding of indigenous cultures and histories to support reconciliation, environmental understanding and shared community

The 2021 National Teachers’ Conference offers an much needed opportunity to connect and share with colleagues face to face after a long and difficult year of remote connection and learning.
We are looking forward to welcoming you to our host school, Samford Valley Steiner School in the semi-rural Samford Valley approximately 24km/35 minutes’ drive from Brisbane, in South East Queensland.
The Conference will include two wonderful evening performances, on the Tuesday and Wednesday evenings.
‘Let me be’, presented by Pacifica College of Eurythmy, who will be joined by composer – pianist Erik Griswold, sound artist Vanessa Tomlinson and others to present an immersive performance-experience interweaving eurythmy, music spoken text and more in progression through the grounds, hall and amphitheatre of Samford Valley Steiner School – Tuesday, 6 July 6pm (admittance included in conference registration).
Samford Valley Steiner School staff will present a performance of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. You are invited to come and dream yourself across the threshold into the world of the elementals. Outside and immersed in the beautiful Samford Valley, this is a live theatrical experience to remember. With spectacular outdoor lighting, the beauty of a string quartet, and the madness of love, this is a teacher’s play like no other. Epic in proportion, this spectacular vision of the world within will have you mesmerized and warmed with wonder. Wednesday, 7 July 7pm $30 + GST for supper and performance. Our major sponsor, Mercurius Australia will be onsite through out the conference, with a display of their wonderful art, craft and music products and will once again offer lunchtime hands on, practical craft sessions over the duration of the conference.
Due to Covid restrictions we are limited to 160 people at the 2021 National Teachers’ Conference. All registration must be completed in advance. No registration will be possible at the conference. Please book early to secure your place.
