Jantiff Beasley wins first place in Young Writer’s Awards
Class 6 student Jantiff Beasley has done Perth Waldorf School proud by winning first place at the Armadale Young Writers’s Awards (for years 5&6) 2020! Jantiff will be receiving a trophy and $200 from Mayor Cr Ruth Buterfield and author Meg Caddy.
The Young Writers Awards have been running in the city of Armadale for 10 years. Children that live in the area or attend school in the area can enter. It is open to children in grades 3-12.
The stories have a limit of 2000 words. Jantiff, who was 11 at the time, wrote just on 2000 words. Jantiff has been an avid reader since grade 2 and likes to read fantasy and Greek and Norse mythology.
His story is about a monster hunter who travels the world, hunting down monsters. The main character is led to Perth by a series of clues, where she finds herself up against a troll. The story is humorous and moves between times, countries and points of view.
Jantiff wrote the story over 6 weeks from home, partly while he was schooling from home during COVID and during his holidays.
