Milkwood Steiner School

Barber of Seville performance with Opera Australia

Bravo, bravissimo!

The Opera Australia touring production of the Barber of Seville, which was recently showing in Brisbane and featured South East Brisbane Steiner School’s children (see story here), has now moved up to Darwin, and guess who is singing in Darwin’s production – Milkwood Steiner School!

From the Principal at Milkwood Steiner School, Netanela Mizrahi:
23 Milkwood students were selected to train and perform as Opera Australia’s Children’s Chorus, for their Darwin season of Rossini’s The Barber of Seville. The Milkwood children’s chorus brought focus, passion, musical excellence and constant good spirits to this entire process and I couldn’t be prouder of their professionalism on stage and in rehearsal. Thank you to our parent chaperones: Rebecca, Chris, Jacqueline and Sue! And an enormous thank you to Jonathon, Bronte, Jo, Maestro Siro and the entire cast and crew of Opera Australia’s touring company.  I share this lovely feedback from everyone’s new best friend, Opera Australia’s Bronte. Congratulations to all!

~ Netanela Mizrahi

I just wanted to thank you and the children once again for all of your beautiful work in the theatre over the past couple days. What gorgeous kids! They did such wonderful work, both on and offstage, and have been the talk of the town amongst the whole touring company who think, like I do, that they are our most beautiful group yet. I do hope the children (and you!) are very proud of themselves – they received such high commendation & praise from Siro, our Conductor, as well as the cast, crew, and entire production team. I was delighted and humbled to spend the last two days with you all – if I could take you all with me for the rest of the tour I would! Thank you once again – the children were just beautiful, as was your manner with them. I sincerely hope that we will have the pleasure of working with you all again in the future.
