Year 8 Art students at Mansfield Steiner School have been studying the technique of rendering in their art classes with Art and Design Teacher Sue Plumb. Students were asked to choose a professional black and white portrait of a ‘famous person’ to draw. They were to bisect the image and using the grid method, apply tonal render with graphite to reproduce the image as realistically as possible. This activity extends their technical experiences and enhances their pictorial language through exercising their observational skills.
The finished works are wonderful.
