Latitude Gallery Young Jewellers Award 2022

Jormungandr – The Sea Serpent by Freya Bergen

Latitude Jewellers contemporary showroom is situated in the evolving heart of Geraldton’s Marine Terrace in Western Australia. The gallery was opened by pearl farmer Pia Boschetti, who is known as ‘The Girl Who Grows the Pearl’. Latitude began as a place to promote Pia’s rare Abrolhos Pearls, which she continues to grow today on her pearl farm at the Abrolhos Islands off the coast of Geraldton.

Pia’s ‘Freedom to create’ philosophy, where designers have a boundary free opportunity to create jewellery that defines art; and attaching a story and meaning to all their jewellery designs, has also become an impetus for The Young Jewellers Award.

The Latitude Jewellers Young Jewellers Awards began in 2014 and has grown to become a very prestigious event in the Midwest, with over 65 students choosing to participate every year. 

High School students are invited to take part, and each are given an Abrolhos Island pearl and free rein to create a jewellery masterpiece. This event builds the students confidence in jewellery design and life.

Here at Leaning Tree Steiner School, designing begins at the beginning of Term 2, with jewellery making taking 8 – 10 weeks to complete.

Leaning Tree Steiner School were so privileged to be able to participate in this fantastic community event, along with 2 other local high schools, which was generously sponsored by Latitude Jewellers.

This year our students shone once again in the Young Jewellers Awards by scooping the:
