Mastering DIFFICULT CONVERSATIONS WITH MURRAY HOPKINS

Almost everyone finds certain conversations difficult or challenging. This workshop will help you change the way you think about so-called “difficult” conversations and transform them into “learning” conversations – ones that build relationships and reduce conflict. The transformation from “difficult” to “learning” has nothing to do with the specific content – it is a reproducible process you can use in any context. So, at a practical level, Murray will teach you the first foundational skill you can take away and practice. This will be an interactive workshop. You will be working in pairs or small groups. However, you will not need to reveal or share sensitive information nor the details of any difficult conversation.
The session will be an interactive workshop (not a lecture) and participants will leave with some useful skills. To get the best value for your time there are some steps for you to complete before the workshop. These steps should take about 40 minutes in total. Pre-seminar information will be emailed to participants with registration confirmation.
Murray Hopkins is a facilitator and executive coach specialising in bringing disparate groups into more cohesive wholes. He has worked in the private, public and not-for-profit sectors at national, state and local levels. Murray’s involvement with Steiner Education began in 1997 as part of the group that founded Mumbulla School in Bega, NSW. He worked in the office at Mumbulla in 2001, then as the Business Manager at the Blue Mountains Steiner School from 2002-2004, then for the last decade as a Director and Operations Person at Kindlehill School in Wentworth Falls, NSW. Over the years he has seen how mismanaged conversations have a terrible impact on organisations of all sizes so he and his colleague, John Sautelle, created the Mastering Difficult Conversations course to address that specific issue.

All sessions will be held via zoom. Information regarding the program will be coming out in the coming weeks.
The sessions are open for all staff and board members of SEA member schools. The session is free for staff and board/council members from SEA Member schools and organisations.
