Nature Connection for the Wellbeing, Development and Vitality of the Whole Being
with Bethanie Jolly

‘Look deep into Nature and then you will understand everything better.’ Albert Einstein

Somewhere along the line, a deep forgetting took place, and the implications for humanity are broad reaching. Remembering our inherent connection to the land is one of the most important things we can offer our children and ourselves, as dedicated teachers, especially in this formidable time.

Join Bethanie for this 3-day workshop at our National Teachers’ Conference. You will explore, through a variety of direct hands-on experiences, the many ways in which meaningful interactive time in nature can be integrated into the educational journey, how it meets the complex needs of the developing threefold human being and how nature connection can support the life of a teacher. You will discover how a sense of deep nature connection can be found through a combination of nature-based creative arts, physical and sensory exploration and naturalist studies.

As we explore, you will learn the ways in which meaningful time in nature has the powerful capacity to support human wellbeing through natural co-regulation, offering deep solace, soothing and support from our greatest source of nurture and nourishment. It can also support the development of cognitive function, activating attentive awareness, cultivating curiosity, awakening insight and igniting creative inspiration. The natural world can make the human being of any age come alive with wonder, awe and deep reverence, which is precisely what our world and our children need.

As Robin Wall Kimmerer says in her book Braiding Sweetgrass, ‘Knowing that you love the earth changes you, activates you to defend and protect and celebrate. But when you feel that the earth loves you in return, that feeling transforms the relationship from a one-way street into a sacred bond.’
