The Role

Shearwater is seeking a Head of School to lead the Shearwater community and share in its passion for Steiner education. The Head of School will be driven to engage and guide a student body of approximately 650 students and 130 teachers through the implementation of a new strategic and operational master plan. This individual will have a proven record of providing inspiring educational and operational leadership in dynamic and thriving school environments.

The successful candidate will foster an ethos of initiative, collaboration, and growth at Shearwater while maintaining a core focus of delivering upon our mission of offering high-quality Steiner education within our unique curriculum.

This requires a person who can lead with the passion and skills necessary to steer the School through the next phase of its development.

Our School

Shearwater, the Mullumbimby Steiner School is nestled among the green hills of the Byron Shire hinterland, 3.5 km from Mullumbimby, and a short drive from some of the most beautiful coastline of NSW. Established in 1993, Shearwater has grown to a double streamed K-12 school with an enrolment of over 650, a further 50 children in our Early Learning Centre and a Trade Skills Centre. Our beautiful 21 hectare site is bordered by a creek and rainforest, farmland, with gardens and a working farm managed according to biodynamic practices. Shearwater offers staff education and a mentoring program, ongoing professional learning opportunities, workshops, events and courses.
