School Office Assistant – Part Time

 

Lorien Novalis Steiner School is located in the Hills District, in Dural.  The school operates from Kindergarten to Class 12.  There is also Early Childhood Service on the premises and Outside of School Hours Service.  The school is currently seeking a School Office Assistant to join the administration team starting with 2 days per week.  There is future scope for increase in days.

Role:

  • Reception duties including but not limited to answering, screening and directing all incoming calls, accepting deliveries, student and parent enquiries, welcoming guests and directing them to relevant offices
  • School administration duties including but not limited to recording daily attendance data, filing, general administration support to the team, mail distribution, student record data entry, ordering stationery and supplies, booking enrolment appointments and receipting school fees and levy payments
  • Managing the school shop
  • Welcoming face to the school community, first point of contact for new students, parents and visitors

  • Supporting all areas of the school with commitment and willingness to meet the needs of the ethos of the school
  • Undertake continued training in Anthroposophy and professional development

Elements:

  • General understanding Anthroposophy and Steiner Education, to be able to articulate to the public
  • General awareness of school risks assessment plan and how impacts in the processes in administration, including Cyber Risks
  • General understanding of data sources for State and Federal Funding
  • General understanding of the curriculum and Strategic Plan for future education

Skills/ Knowledge:

  • Exceptional writing skills
  • Clear communication skills in writing and on the phone, as well as face to face
  • Exceptionally organised
  • Ability to converse with new people
  • Multitask
  • Advanced Computer skills, ability to work with student databases, Email calendar, Word, Excel
  • MAC computers
  • Ability to build and maintain an effective working relationship with a wide variety of people
  • Ability to prioritise to ensure that deadlines are met, whilst working under pressure
  • Ability to work on own initiative and contribute ideas to the improvement of admin services at the school
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality and integrity in all matters
  • Ability to form and maintain appropriate relationships and personal boundaries with children and young people
  • Ability to work under limited supervision

Requirements:

  • 1-2 years experience in similar role in a education environment
  • Current drivers licence
  • Current Working with Children check
  • Current First Aid Certificate, not necessary to start with

  • Head of School

Salary:

As per the Independent Schools NSW (support and Operational Staff) Multi-Enterprise Agreement
2017, level based on experience
