EXPRESSION OF INTEREST
PRINCIPAL – AURORA SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS STEINER SCHOOL
Aurora Steiner School is located in Bowral, NSW, in the heart of the stunning Southern Highlands region just south of Sydney. We are a K-11 school currently running a mix of single stream and composite classes. Most importantly, we have a dynamic and caring staff who come together under a Steiner framework to collegially deliver outcomes for our students. Aurora is a great environment to work and thrive.
Aurora staff work collaboratively and professionally with a strong focus on student learning and a love of children. We are committed to developing a healthy, purposeful education for today’s world and challenging students to continually improve. Our rich learning program across the grades includes specialist teachers in many areas. Students in Years 9 and above will participate in the Duke of Edinburgh Award.
The College of Teachers are tasked with embedding a Steiner-based pedagogy across the school and assisting teachers with student matters. As the Principal you will work alongside the College of Teachers, Head of Teaching and Learning, and Business Manager, while engaging with the school community, inspiring and connecting people, and communicating the school’s vision and journey. You will work collaboratively with the various stakeholders across the school, working within the school’s culture of collaboration and service.
We are seeking a dedicated and innovative educational leader to become our next Principal. This role reports to the Board to further build our school and deliver the goals of the strategic plan. This is a unique and exciting opportunity to join our current dynamic school as a leader as we grow and achieve our aim of a successful K-12 Steiner School by 2024. This full time position has become available as we have decided to increase the executive team by dividing the two roles of Principal and Business Manager. The current Principal who has managed both roles for the last 3 years has chosen to continue supporting the school as the Business Manager.
The new Principal should have experience with and a personal connection to Steiner pedagogical principles and values, understanding how they are implemented through the Steiner based curriculum of the school. These values provide the inspiration and guiding light for going forward into the next stage of development. We are looking for skills that continue to develop a healthy and holistic child focused community, developing structures with relationships of integrity, practicality and purpose and continuing to secure professional and financial stability.
It is envisaged that the interview process will commence shortly after expressions of interest close on 14 April 2023 with the new Principal commencing with the school from 1 July 2023.
Expressions of interest should be sent to Jane Button, Chair of the Board via email
