Orana Steiner School (Orana) is an independent, co-educational and non-denominational school set in 16 hectares of unique, natural landscape in Weston, an inner south suburb of Canberra. The school was founded in 1981 and currently has students from pre-preschool (aged 3 years old) to Year 12.
Our educational philosophy focuses on the growth and development of the whole child. Our students are provided with an age-appropriate curriculum that meets their developmental needs. As well as providing a stimulating environment for the study of a broad range of subjects, we strive to nourish the intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual development of our students.
A permanent full-time teaching position is currently available in our Primary School. You are expected to be enthusiastic, dedicated to the children and possess a passion for learning. Experience in Steiner education is an advantage but not a requirement. A willingness to undertake professional learning in Steiner education is essential.
The Primary School Teacher at Orana is expected to deliver a rich curriculum through stories, art, music and practical activities in order to awaken and develop the students’ imagination. From Year 1 to Year 7 the aim is to foster a love of learning and independent thinking to build a solid academic foundation for the High School years through an integrated curriculum of Maths, Sciences, Literacy, Languages and Humanities.
- Qualified teacher, minimum 4 years trained with a Bachelor of Education Degree
- Current TQI and WWVP registrations.
- Enthusiasm and dedication to the Steiner curriculum.
- A commitment to supporting and promoting Orana’s ethos.
- Interpersonal and communication skills of a high standard.
- Positive attitude towards children and a love of teaching.
