Orana Steiner School (Orana) is an independent, co-educational and non-denominational school set in 13 hectares of unique, natural landscape in Weston, ACT. It was founded in 1981 and currently has students from pre-school [3 y/o] to Year 12.

We are inviting applications for a full-time classroom teaching position in our Primary School commencing Term 2 2019.

Our educational philosophy focuses on the growth and development of the whole child. A Steiner education at Orana provides children with an age-appropriate curriculum that meets their developmental needs. As well as providing a stimulating environment for the study of a broad range of subjects, Orana strives to nourish the intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual development of its students.

A Primary Classroom Teacher at Orana is expected to deliver a rich curriculum through stories, art, music and practical activities in order to awaken and develop the students’ imagination. From Year 1 to Year 7 the aim is to foster a love of learning and independent thinking to build a solid academic foundation for the High School years through an integrated curriculum of Maths, Sciences, Literacy, Languages and Humanities.

We expect you are enthusiastic, dedicated to the children and possessing the passion for learning including outdoor activities. Experience in Steiner education is an advantage but not a requirement however willingness to undertake professional learning in Steiner education is essential.

Selection Criteria:

  • Minimum 4 years Bachelor degree in Education
  • Current TQI and WWVP registrations.
  • Enthusiasm and dedication to the Steiner curriculum.
  • A commitment to supporting and promoting Orana’s ethos.
  • Interpersonal and communication skills of a high standard.
  • Positive attitude towards children and a love of teaching.
