Shearwater, the Mullumbimby Steiner School

Shearwater, the Mullumbimby Steiner School is nestled among the green hills of the Byron Shire hinterland, New South Wales. Established in 1993, Shearwater has grown to a K-12 school, with an enrolment of over 640. Our beautiful 52-hectare site sits in lush rainforest alongside farmland with gardens and a farm working by biodynamic practices. Shearwater offers quality staff education including a mentorship program, ongoing professional development opportunities, artistic activities, workshops, events, and courses.

Position Overview

Shearwater is currently seeking Expressions of Interest for experienced full or part time Class Teachers to commence with our 2023 school year. Ideal candidates would have a willingness to continue the journey with the students through to year 7, and the flexibility to commence with any Primary year level. Candidates seeking a part time arrangement, must be willing to job share a class.

Shearwater teachers provide an exceptional Steiner educational environment and learning experience for all students. You will be joining a collective of teachers dedicated to providing an imaginative approach to teaching and learning based on Steiner’s pedagogical insights, within a dynamic and progressive Steiner educational environment.

The ideal candidates will have a strong commitment to Steiner education, with demonstrated experience as a Class Teacher in a Steiner primary school, and hold relevant teaching qualifications for eligibility for accreditation with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).
