Primary Class Teacher Position

Helena River Steiner School is a small, city-based co-educational and non-denominational school in Midland, Western Australia. 

We offer a Steiner education from Kindergarten to high school, based on the nationally accredited Australian Steiner Curriculum Framework (ASCF), which is grounded in the educational insights of Rudolf Steiner. We aim to create a school where the Core Principles for Australian Steiner Schools permeate its pedagogical, physical and social fabric through the thinking, feeling and willing actions of its employees and community members. 

The School is seeking a primary school class teacher for a mixed-age class (Class 5/6), full time or job share.

Our ideal candidate is a Steiner qualified and experienced primary years teacher, who relates to children in a loving, positive and creative way and ensures meaningful and strong relationships within the school and wider community.  The successful applicant will show initiative, a flexible approach, be adaptable to change and will be a contributing member of our organisation. 

The successful candidate will be expected to plan, lead, record and assess the Class 5/6 program, in line with the Australian Steiner Curriculum and approach to teaching; hold strong daily, weekly and seasonal rhythms; collaborate effectively with colleagues; have excellent communication skills with parents; attend staff/committee meetings; and help organise festivals, parent-education evenings, and other community events throughout the year. 

If you are not Steiner trained or experienced, the suitable applicant will be able to demonstrate a commitment to and passion for Steiner education – and the school will provide ongoing in-house and external Steiner training and support. 

Candidates are required to hold a valid Western Australian teaching registration, and a Working with Children Check.
