Shearwater, the Mullumbimby Steiner School

Shearwater, the Mullumbimby Steiner School is nestled among the green hills of the Byron Shire hinterland, New South Wales. Established in 1993, With an enrolment north of 640, Shearwater has grown to one of the largest K-12 Steiner schools within Australia. Our beautiful 52-hectare site sits in lush rainforest alongside farmland with gardens and a farm working by biodynamic practices. Shearwater offers quality staff education including a mentorship program, ongoing professional development opportunities, artistic activities, workshops, events, and courses.

Shearwater is currently seeking an experienced Class Teacher to  continue the journey with a Class 4, ideally through to Year 7, commencing in our 2022 school year. Shearwater teachers provide an exceptional Steiner educational environment and learning experience for all students within the class as they continue their primary school journey to Class 7.

You will be joining a collective of teachers dedicated to providing an imaginative approach to teaching and learning based on Steiner’s pedagogical insights, within a dynamic and progressive Steiner educational environment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to Steiner education, with demonstrated experience as a Class Teacher in a Steiner primary school, and hold relevant teaching qualifications for eligibility for accreditation with the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA).
