Shearwater, the Mullumbimby Steiner School is nestled among the green hills of the Byron Shire hinterland, New South Wales. Established in 1993, Shearwater has grown to a K-12 school, with an enrolment of over 640. Our beautiful 52-hectare site sits in lush rainforest alongside farmland with gardens and a farm working by biodynamic practices. Shearwater offers quality staff education including a mentorship program, ongoing professional development opportunities, artistic activities, workshops, events, and courses.

Shearwater, the Mullumbimby Steiner School is currently seeking caring, creative and experienced Early Childhood Teachers to join our Little Shearwater Preschool in the roles of Preschool Director and Early Childhood Teacher. Each will be a 0.5FTE role, but there is the opportunity for one individual to assume both.

Our mixed-ages, double streamed preschool caters for children aged three to five through a quality play-based education program, offering such hands-on activities as play, art, singing and music, and delivered in a warm, loving and home-like environment. Our education programs are guided by the indications of Rudolf Steiner and adhere to the National Quality Standards and Early Years Learning Framework.

The ideal candidates will be accredited NSW Early Childhood Teachers with demonstrated experience in a Steiner Preschool and a strong commitment to Steiner Education.  The ideal candidate for a Preschool Director will have demonstrated experience overseeing and managing Preschool, leading the development of the Steiner curriculum, and supporting Preschool educators.

Appointment will be subject to a satisfactory Working with Children Check as required under the Child Protection (Working With Children) Act 2012.
