Hours of Duty: Wednesday and Thursday 11am – 3pm

Noosa Pengari Steiner School first opened its doors in 1996 and has now established itself as a strong independent school offering a Steiner/Waldorf Education for students from Kinder to Class 12.  We currently cater for 350 students from 200 families and continue to grow as our high school develops.

Primary Objective

The Permanent Part-time Preschool Teacher role is part of the Preschool faculty, supporting the Preschool Teachers by providing regular, designated relief across both preschool classes.  

Specific Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • Deliver a programme based on the principles of Steiner early childhood education.
  • Apply behaviour management strategies that contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a supportive learning environment for the classroom and the preschool as a whole, be consistent about rules of supervision and discipline.
  • Keep the safety of the children as a priority in all work with the children.
  • Have a clear understanding of the importance of imitation in the preschool and therefore model good speech, actions and attitudes.
  • Work collaboratively with all colleagues to improve outcomes for children, to clarify roles and responsibilities and to organise and coordinate activities and events.
  • Provide clear, open and honest communication with parents/guardians of children.

Selection Criteria

  • Training, qualifications and experience working with young children
  • A willingness to deepen own understanding of a Steiner approach to Early Childhood Education
  • A long-term commitment to working with young children in a nurturing, family-oriented environment
  • Patience, equanimity, endurance, enthusiasm, flexibility, and the ability to communicate well with staff, children and parents.
  • A willingness to receive instruction and an openness to working as a team member

Essential Qualifications

  • Queensland College of Teachers registration
  • Current First Aid and CPR Certificates or willingness to obtain prior to commencement of employment
  • A current Blue Card or the ability to obtain one prior to commencement of employment
  • Evidence of eligibility to work in Australia
