High School Teaching Assistants 2022
Permanent part-time positions (stand-down provision applies)
Remuneration in line with Independent Schools NSW (Support and Operational) Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2017 and the incoming agreement commencing in 2022.
Shearwater is currently seeking skilled and engaging High School Teaching Assistants to provide support for students in Years 7 to 12, including:
● Learning Support Assistant (27.5 hrs per week)
● Literacy Teaching Assistant (15hrs per week)
● TAS Assistant (27.5hrs per week)
The Learning Support and Literacy Teaching Assistants will collaborate with classroom teachers and the Integration and Support Coordinator to implement student IEPs and to present learning in a way that allows students with learning support needs to integrate within the class group. The Learning Support Assistant will be tasked to generally work directly with specific students on an ongoing basis, while the Literacy Teaching Assistant will work with a variety of students across a number of classes.
The ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience working within a classroom setting, working with students with special educational needs, and have a sound understanding of the principles, practices, and theory of Steiner education. Although not required, preference will be given to those with an understanding of Steiner pedagogy.
The TAS Assistant supports the TAS teachers (woodwork, metal work and textiles) and KLA Coordinator, with the practical aspects of classroom activities and the maintenance of equipment, materials and stock.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of workshop dynamics and the health and safety protocols and requirements within such an environment. Steiner experience or qualifications are not essential, although preferred.
