FOUNDING TEACHERS, K-2
School: Port Macquarie Steiner School
Kindergarten Teacher, Class 1/2 Teacher
Applications are now open for founding teachers, to begin in 2018. Our application to register K-2 for 2018 has been approved by the NESA, and we are now busily preparing the school site and gathering enrolments for our foundation year.
We are fortunate to live in a very beautiful part of the world, and our initiative to begin a Steiner school in our region is one which we hope will enrich our community, feed our children with real life education, and honour the land on which we live. We hope to attract one to two highly experienced full-time teachers to our region, to lead the school forward through its foundation years.
We are fortunate to have several donors and sponsors, who will ensure that funds are made available to support our teaching staff and growth through the foundational years.
We currently have access to a church hall in the centre of Port Macquarie, where we will spend our initial two to three years. During this time we will seek land on which to build our school towards a complete primary school up to Class 6.
Our school is founded on the educational indications of Rudolf Steiner, which inform our vision statement and Constitution. Our initiative is also founded on a strong, supportive community of parents and we endeavour always to maintain the integrity of these foundations, and the inclusive, open-minded and welcoming spirit in which we began.
To create a community-based Steiner education-based school for the Port Macquarie region, which fosters an holistic education for our children and a valuable, ethical, nurturing resource for our community.
Port Macquarie Steiner Limited is a not-for-profit Company Limited by Guarantee. The Company, through the Board of Directors, upholds the school’s vision and mission statements.
Our founding teachers will be required to have a breadth of experience: in teaching, in Steiner Education, and in life experience. As founding teachers the responsibility is significantly more than may be expected in a well established school, yet this also will involve a passion for this way of educating, a motivation to lead the school forward and to be involved in its creation. All teachers will take primary academic and pastoral responsibility for, and care of, a school class in accordance with the school educational philosophy, policies and procedures.
Our kindergarten teacher will be required to have teacher education qualifications from a higher education institution within Australia or as recognised within the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (AEI-NOOSR) guidelines, and be accredited by the NSW Educational Standard Authority. Steiner education qualifications and relevant kindergarten experience in a Steiner school is also preferred.
Class 1/2 Teacher
Our Class 1/2 teacher will be required to have teacher education qualifications from a higher education institution within Australia or as recognised within the National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition (AEI-NOOSR) guidelines, and be accredited by the NSW Educational Standard Authority. Steiner education qualifications and relevant class teacher experience are ideals. This teacher will then take the school forward one year at a time, remaining with a composite class, depending on future enrolments and class sizes. This teacher will be required to be involved in the direction and leadership of the school, alongside the board and the administration/business manager.
