Eurythmy Teacher

EURYTHMY TEACHER

West Coast Steiner School and Helena River Steiner School

Perth, Western Australia

West Coast Steiner School and Helena River Steiner School in Perth, Western Australia are seeking to appoint a Eurythmy Teacher for 4-5 days per week (work fraction can be negotiated) to work across the two school campuses, starting February 2022.

West Coast Steiner School provides an oasis of peace and beauty within a vibrant, multicultural neighbourhood just 20 minutes from Perth CBD and the Indian Ocean.  The school was established in 1995 and has flourished over the past 25 years, currently offering a baby group, playgroups, 4 kindergarten classes and single stream primary classes from Years 1-6 with a P-6 enrolment of approximately 165 students. We have a beautiful Performance Room designed along Anthroposophical principles with a grand piano which is suited to Eurythmy.

Helena River Steiner School is a small, city-based school which began as a playgroup in 2013, developed into a kindergarten in 2016 and became a registered school in 2018. This year HRSS began their first high school class and currently has 100 students from Kindergarten to Class 8, all in composite classes. Year levels will be added each year until they reach Class 12 and have single streams.

Eurythmy is highly valued as an important art form and integral aspect of the Steiner/Waldorf curriculum in both schools but an unfortunate shortage of Eurythmy Teachers on the west coast of Australia has meant that we have not been able to offer regular sessions to our students for the past two years.

We are looking for a qualified Eurythmy Teacher with the drive and passion to reignite the understanding and appreciation of this important art form within our cohesive and welcoming school communities.  You will be responsible for the overall teaching of Eurythmy across the two schools and will need to be dynamic and creative, working with the educational principles inspired by Rudolf Steiner, whilst being committed to a high standard in teaching and professional learning.

Salary will be based on qualifications and experience.  Teacher Registration and a Working with Children Check will be necessary or will need to be sought before commencement.

Please apply with resume and covering letter to Jenny Dougan, Principal, West Coast Steiner School at education@wcss.wa.edu.au.
