Orana Steiner School (Orana) is an independent, co-educational and non-denominational school set in 13 hectares of unique, natural landscape in Weston, ACT. It was founded in 1981 and currently has more than 600 students from pre-school [3 y/o] to Year 12.
Our educational philosophy focuses on the growth and development of the whole child. A Steiner education at Orana provides children with an age-appropriate curriculum that meets their developmental needs. As well as providing a stimulating environment for the study of a broad range of subjects, Orana strives to nourish the intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual development of its students.
We are inviting applications for teaching positions in our Early Childhood Centre for 2019 school year. We expect you are enthusiastic, dedicated to the children and possessing the passion for learning including outdoor activities. Experience in Steiner education is an advantage but not a requirement however willingness to undertake professional learning in Steiner education is essential.
The Early Childhood Teaching Position
The role of the Early Childhood Teacher at Orana is to provide an age appropriate learning environment for children aged between three and six years old, based on Rudolf Steiner’s indications. The curriculum aims to establish rhythm, support child-initiated creative play and to develop life skills and social skills. The teacher also has an important role in supporting the child’s transition into Class One.
- Qualified teacher, minimum 4 years trained with a Bachelor of Education Degree
- Current TQI and WWVP registrations.
- Enthusiasm and dedication to the Steiner curriculum.
- A commitment to supporting and promoting Orana’s ethos.
- Interpersonal and communication skills of a high standard.
- Positive attitude towards children and a love of teaching.
