Early Childhood Teacher (Preschool)

Employment Type: Permanent, Part Time (0.5FTE, 5-day fortnight) or Full Time (1.0FTE)

Hours of Work: 8am to 4pm

Commencement: During Term 1 2023

Position Overview

Shearwater is currently seeking caring and creative Teachers to provide a quality play-based education program for children aged 3 to 5, guided by the indications of Rudolf Steiner and built upon the platform in which the curriculum and daily practices are linked to the National Quality Standards and Early Years Learning Framework. 

This role may be split between two people, consisting of one teacher working Mondays, Tuesdays, and alternating Wednesdays, and the other working alternating Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays or one teacher working across the week full time.

The ideal candidate will hold an ACECQA approved Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood) / Bachelor of Education in and will provide an environment which encourages imaginative play and creative expression, in which each child has the potential to develop creative, physical and social skills and have an understanding of early childhood development and educational foundations as indicated by Rudolf Steiner.

Hand Craft Teaching Assistant (Primary School)

Employment Type: Permanent Part-Time (0.21FTE)

Days & Hours of Work: 1 – 3pm, four days per week (days will change with each term)

Position Overview

Shearwater is currently seeking a dynamic and engaging part-time Hand Craft Teaching Assistant with specialist skills in woodwork to support Class Teachers 2 through 6 with providing creative, inspiring and engaging learning programs and environments through the planning, coordination, and implementation of woodwork activities.

Ideal candidates will be skilled in woodwork, and be adaptable, nurturing, and enthusiastic. Candidates will also have demonstrated experience working within a classroom setting, and a sound understanding of the principles, practices, and theory of Steiner education. A willingness to participate in all aspects of the Shearwater community, including co-curricular activities such as festivals and open days, is desirable.
