A vacancy exists for a full-time Class 7/8 Main Lesson/Science Teacher at Collingwood College – Hoddle Street Campus (7-10) to commence from Term 1, 2023.
Collingwood College is a government P-12 school established in 1882. It is located in the inner-city suburb of Collingwood, close to Melbourne’s CBD. Collingwood College is a culturally diverse school with an enrolment of 850 students. The school operates a registered International Student Program that can cater to up to 80 students from a range of countries including Vietnam, Cambodia, China, Thailand, Indonesia, and Korea.
The school has a public Steiner stream from P- Year 9 with an journey program at Year 9 for all Steiner students. Steiner teachers are strongly encouraged to apply.

About the role:
This role is ideal for a passionate and motivated teacher with a high degree of professionalism and diverse set of skills. You will be responsible for planning and implementing Main Lesson at Year 8/7 and Science lessons across 7 -9 in line with the Australian Steiner Curriculum Framework, Victorian Curriculum levels and Steiner philosophy.
Your ideal skills will include:
- successful teaching experience in a Steiner school or a deep interest and practical understanding of Steiner pedagogy and philosophy
- demonstrated ability to work supportively and collaboratively as part of an enthusiastic and committed team
- commitment to further personal and professional learning
- preparedness to be fully involved in the schools’ activities
- Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students;
- Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties.
The successful applicant will meet the following criteria:
- have current VIT Teacher Registration
- eligible to work in Australia
- current Working with Children Check

SC1 Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills. Demonstrated experience in responding to student learning needs.
SC2 Demonstrated experience in planning for and implementing high impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluating the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth.
SC3 Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning. Demonstrated experience in using data to inform teaching practice and providing feedback on student learning growth and achievement to students and parents.
SC4 Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the broader school community to support student learning, agency, wellbeing and engagement.
SC5 Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values. Demonstrated experience in reflecting upon practice and engaging in professional learning to continually improve the quality of teaching.
