2024 Class 1 Teacher
This is a full-time position commencing at the beginning of Term 1, 2024.
The successful candidate will be asked to work at Linuwel School in Term 4, 2023 to get to know the school and the children.
Class teachers at Linuwel School ideally stay with their class until the end of Class 6.
Linuwel is a K-12 school and preschool for Steiner education with approximately 250 students in K-12. It is situated in a semi-rural setting on Wonnarua country in the Hunter Valley, surrounded by farmland and historic towns and villages, close to Newcastle and an hour from Nelson Bay. Linuwel School is committed to supporting reconciliation, inclusivity, restorative practice, and working out of best practice by maintaining the core principles of Steiner education while incorporating current educational research. We are looking for a committed teacher who can develop strong relationships with children and their families. The successful candidate will either be an experienced Steiner teacher or have a personal teaching philosophy that aligns with the principles of Steiner education (these can be found on SEA’s website). They will have demonstrated experience in successful teaching of foundational literacy and numeracy skills and in using data to inform their teaching. The successful candidate will be someone who will relish the opportunity to incorporate the arts into a range of curriculum areas.
Essential criteria:
- Prior experience working in a Steiner / Waldorf school preferred.
- Accreditation with NESA and compliance with child protection requirements, including a current WWCC.
- Demonstrated successful experience in foundational literacy and numeracy instruction, and the ability to adapt this to our context.
- Demonstrated experience designing, delivering and assessing quality teaching programs in all curriculum areas.
- Demonstrated experience making adjustments for a wide range of learners.
- The capacity to align teaching practices to Steiner’s understanding of child development, and work with both the Steiner curriculum and the NSW curriculum.
- The capacity to transform your teaching practices to work in a Steiner school setting.
