CLASS 1/2 Founding Teacher
To create a community-centered Steiner education-based school for the Port Macquarie region, which fosters an holistic education for our children and a valuable, ethical, nurturing resource for our community.
Port Macquarie Steiner Limited is a not-for-profit Company Limited by Guarantee. The Company, through the Board of Directors, upholds the school’s vision and mission statements
Applications are now open for our founding class teacher, to begin in 2019. We are in the midst of our foundation year, with our first kindergarten class of 6 full time students. These students will be continuing on to Class 1, and our enrolments are open to K-2 for 2019.
Our school is currently located in a church hall in the center of Port Macquarie, where we will spend our initial two to four years. We are actively seeking opportunities to acquire land on which we can grow our school with room to expand to Class 6, and eventually potentially High School.
Our school is founded on the educational indications of Rudolf Steiner, which inform our vision statement and Constitution. Our initiative is also founded on a strong, supportive community of parents and we endeavor always to maintain the integrity of these foundations, and the inclusive, open-minded and welcoming spirit in which we began.
Currently we have an experienced Kindergarten Teacher working hard to create a strong foundation for our students, supported by a dedicated administration coordinator. Leadership of the school is provided by a Board committed to growing the school, developing our staff and supporting a collaborative and harmonious working environment Our school community is passionate, supportive and enthusiastic.
The Role – Class 1/2 Teacher
As founding teachers, the responsibility is significantly more than may be expected in a well-established school.
The applicant will be expected to have:
- Current NSW Teacher Accreditation number and status
- Steiner Education qualifications and relevant class teacher experience.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills supporting the ability to work collaboratively as part of the school team.
- Demonstrated experience in developing positive relationships with parents and the wider community to enrich the school community as a whole.
- The capacity to work innovatively, creatively and with initiative to support the pioneering of a Steiner School in Port Macquarie.
- A demonstrated committed to professional development.
All teachers will take primary academic and pastoral responsibility for, and care of, a school class in accordance with the school educational philosophy, policies and procedures.
