Shearwater, the Mullumbimby Steiner School Ltd is a company limited by guarantee and governed by a Board of elected and appointed Directors. The School has a Head of School who is responsible for education. The Business Manager is responsible for everything non-educational. This is a fantastic opportunity for a successful candidate to further their Business Manager career or to transition into retirement. As long as you are enthusiastic, energetic and capable, with a level of management experience across business, finance, technology, human resources, property, compliance, risk and strategy, and are willing to work alongside a variety of staff with different functionalities, then this role will reward and fulfil.
You will share an Executive Assistant with the Head of School, be assisted by accounting and administration staff, oversee property and other non-teaching staff, and be supported by a HR Manager, an IT Manager, a Property Manager and an Office Manager. The Business Manager is the key member of the Finance Committee and you will attend quarterly Board Meetings. You will be appointed by the Board and report to them, with the Head of School.
The School envisages that the successful applicant will possess business or accounting tertiary qualifications and be a member of an accounting professional body. IT skills will be representative of this senior management level, as will organisational and staff management skills. Previous experience in schools will be highly valued as will well-developed communication, interpersonal and meeting skills. A handover and transition period will be provided by our current Business Manager as he steps into retirement.
