The Art of Education 2019
The Art of Education is a part-time course of study for prospective Steiner teachers, and teacher aides working in Steiner schools.
The program intends to provide an introduction and overview of the principles that underpin Steiner education.
The course will be held on 8 Saturdays spread across the year. The workshop hours are 8.30am – 3pm and each workshop session will include a morning lecture/discussion followed by an artistic activity in the afternoon. Morning tea and lunch are provided.
There will be lectures related to the Anthroposophical perspective of human nature, child development, as well as the elements of child pedagogy. Artistic activities include painting, drawing, clay modelling/ sculpture, blackboard drawing, Eurythmy, Bothmer gymnastics and music.
The course coordinator, Cristina Rubsamen, has been actively involved in the Steiner/Waldorf School movement in Australia for the past 22 years. Cristina’s professional learning has included educational studies of Extra Lesson, Bothmer Gymnastics and medical/therapeutic elements of ‘School Health Consultancy’.
“The Steiner school curriculum aims to foster and support the natural unfolding of physiologically based faculties from childhood through adolescence and onto adulthood. This creative ‘living’educational approach allows children to grow to their own potential and develop a resilience to meet their future as an independent individual actively participating in our society.”
Cristina will present some of the workshops and will be joined by guest presenters from Samford Valley Steiner School, all of whom are experienced Steiner teachers.
The course will be held at Samford Valley Steiner School, 5 Narrawa Drive, Wights Mountain, QLD. Enquiries to Joan Weir, Marketing & Events, firstname.lastname@example.org
