4 Day Restorative Practices Facilitator Training for Steiner Schools

with Margaret Thorsborne and Dr Shelley Davidow

  • 3, 4 & 5 July, 2024 – in person at Noosa Pengari Steiner School, Doonan, Queensland
  • 12 September, 2024 – on line via Zoom

Restorative Practices focusses on the importance of healthy, mutually respectful relationships in classrooms, faculties, staff rooms, teams, playgrounds and the wider school community.

This training program is designed for school leadership teams and pastoral care/welfare staff who have responsibilities responding to challenging behaviours, minor incidents and complex issues of serious harm or patterns of behaviour.  We will explore a paradigm shift in thinking, firstly about what is needed to support healthy, respectful relationships in everyday interactions, and secondly about the responses to incidents of difficult behaviour –from the most serious and challenging incidents which would attract suspensions or exclusion through to the responses to minor incidents in classrooms and the playground. The training is based on the philosophy and principles of restorative justice as they apply to educational settings.

The workshop is limited to 30 participants and is designed to train school leadership and pastoral/behaviour teams and teachers in the use of restorative practices. This course has been designed to consciously align with core elements of Steiner’s pedagogical indications.
