Many Steiner High School students participate in international exchange programs. They learn about diverse cultures and ways of life very different to those with which they are familiar. The main focus of these expeditions is community service work and meeting local communities. These experiences are challenging physically, emotionally and spiritually and provide opportunities for students to engage in unique and rewarding activities outside school life. Examples of community work some Steiner school students have been involved in throughout Asia and Africa include painting a community church, constructing fishponds to provide a food source, building earthen foundations for a community kitchen, harvesting rice, building simple cooking stoves and teaching English to local children.
